Ferrite material analysis is a non-destructive test method that provides important information for
austenitic stainless steel and duplex materials. The percentage or amount of delta ferrite allows for
mechanical analysis of material corrosion susceptibility, mechanical properties, application, and operational
reliability.
Applications
This test is applicable to the following infraestructures:
- Austenitic stainless steel/Duplex stainless steels Welds (tubing, etc.)
- Normal construction steel with Austenitic chrome alloy steel welded cladding (Ex. Boilers, vessels, etc)
- Weldments, Castings, Forgings, Weld Overlays
- Weld materials, butt/fillet welds
- Stainless weld overlays on non-ferrous interfaces
- In-service and in-construction components
Advantages
The main advantages of this service are:
- Rapid and accurate analysis
- Highly portable digital technology
- Variable calibration in both Ferrite Number (FN) and % Ferrite (FN) using AWS Standards
- Testing instrument meets all requirements of ANSI/AWS A4.2 and DIN EN ISO 8249
- Calibration is traceable to internationally approved IIW
secondary calibration standards
Equipment
Equipped with the following devices:
- SOFRANEL MF300F
(Digital device allowing the measurement of ferrite content or quantity with four probe models available: standard P10 probe Ø 10 mm suitable for most applications, straight probes for small surfaces P46 and P46R (6 x 4 mm), and P10ac cooled probe for hot measurements. Supplied in a case with a certificate and five calibration shims)
